Technical Specification: Compact System
Complete Cable Fault Locating System up to 80 kV, including 3-phase TDR

The Compact System is the result of field experience
and ingenuity to bring cable fault locating into a new
era. Many advanced features offer opportunities to the operator, which make fault locating easier, much safer, and bring up even the hard-to-find faults.
ARM - is the commonly used method cable fault pre-locating and was patented by HDWin 1980. An arc is created at the fault location, which enables the TDR to trace the short. Comparing this shorted trace with a
trace taken before the arc shows the fault location very easily.
ARM Plus - goes one step further. The pulse coming from the TDR has 1,000 V and gives a picture even with very difficult faults. Adouble surge coming from the Compact Systems thumper stabilizes the arc even
more.
Double Surge - provides extra energy to the thump in a second step in the ARM Plus mode. This way it is posiible to avoid big high-energy thumpers. The first thump is adjustable from 4 KV to 32 KV. Before this arc extinguishes, a second thump with 4 KV is put out to maintain the arc woth higher energy. Imagine now the TDR with 1,000 V and you can see why this method is
so successful in finding difficult faults.
Averaging Mode - smoothens traces that make a lot of noise by taking several measurements and averaging them. The final trace will be nice and even
